A months-long investigation led to the arrest of Theodore Magee. Allegheny Township police said he wanted to buy a 6-year-old girl, offering $5,000 to her mother.
Court documents describe Magee, 44, as a friend of the girl’s family. But in April, the child’s mother told police that Magee assaulted her daughter in his home on Gene Drive and also expressed interest in buying her. A text message was sent from Magee to the victim’s mother requesting to purchase the girl, police said.
Magee had shown officers messages and videos on his cell phone, where he referred to the victim as his girlfriend, according to police. He told police that he and the child slept on the same air mattress together when she spent the night at his house and hugged.
