Firearms, ammunition, and prior convictions lead to prison time for 4 people

WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF) — Four men have been sentenced to federal prison this week for separate firearms violations, according to U.S. Attorney Matthew L. Harvey.

Tomez Faulkner, 39, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, received 60 months in prison for unlawful possession of a firearm. Faulkner was stopped on Interstate 70 in Ohio County for erratic driving. A 9mm pistol, later confirmed stolen from Coraopolis, Pennsylvania, was found in plain view inside the vehicle. Faulkner is banned from possessing firearms due to a prior aggravated assault conviction in Pennsylvania.

Steven Wayne Springer, 57, of Proctor, West Virginia, was sentenced to 18 months for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition. An off-duty officer saw Springer with a firearm and alerted the West Virginia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) due to Springer’s past violations of hunting laws. A DNR officer visited Springer, who admitted to possessing multiple firearms. A search of his home uncovered two rifles, a shotgun, and 96 rounds of ammunition.
