A good Samaritan was in the right place at the right time to call 911 and save a man from drowing in the early hours of Wednesday morning, officials said.
The Pittsburgh Public Safety Department said police, EMS, fire crews and a river rescue unit responded at around 2:45 a.m. Wednesday to a report of a drowning along the North Shore River Walk in the area of the Police Memorial. An adult man had fallen into the Allegheny River and was “screaming for help” when a good Samaritan found him.
The good Samaritan called 911 then held onto the man’s arm while waiting for help to arrive. The good Samaritan and the first responder to arrive on the scene were then able to pull the man out of the water…
