Beaver County home to new animal diagnostics center for region

CENTER TWP. ― Beaver County is now the place to come for western Pennsylvania farmers seeking diagnoses on possible disease outbreaks among livestock.

Pennsylvania Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding and Penn State University’s College of Agricultural Sciences Dean Dr. Troy Ott joined with state and local leaders April 16 to officially open the Keystone Animal Diagnostics Center at Penn State Beaver in Center Township.

Funded through a $6 million state investment, the lab expands Pennsylvania’s capacity to respond to animal disease outbreaks, speeding diagnoses for farmers in the western part of the state, lowering their business costs, and helping protect their animals and investments, according to a release from the state agency…
