South Side Night Turns Bloody In 3 A.M. East Carson Stabbing

Two men were hurt early Sunday in a stabbing on Pittsburgh’s South Side, authorities said. Officers found the victims near the intersection of East Carson Street and South 18th Street shortly after 3 a.m., and both were taken to area hospitals. One man suffered a stab wound to the cheek and was listed in stable condition, while another was treated for a hand injury.

As reported by TribLIVE, Pittsburgh police were dispatched to the corner of East Carson and South 18th shortly after 3 a.m. and initially released few details. A police spokeswoman declined to provide the victims’ names or additional information as investigators continued to process the scene. Authorities said the investigation remains active and that they are following leads.

Scene Drew a Heavy Police Response

The East Carson corridor has seen heightened enforcement this year after several violent incidents. A March shooting at South 18th and Carson prompted a deployment of Violent Crime Unit detectives, according to a City of Pittsburgh release. That history has put extra focus on the South Side Entertainment District and patrols along the strip. City public-safety posts show multiple recent responses on East Carson as officials try to curb late-night violence.
