Dallas Police Seek Suspect in Deadly July 2025 Bruton Road Shooting as Crime Stoppers Offers up to $5,000 Reward for Information Leading to Arrest

DALLAS, TX — Dallas police are still searching for the person believed to have fatally shot 18-year-old Omar Johnson during the early hours of the 2025 July 4 holiday. The department says Johnson was found with gunshot wounds inside his car around 12:15 a.m. in the 6400 block of Bruton Road.

Johnson was taken to a hospital, where he later died. More than a year later, investigators say they have not identified a suspect, and the case remains open. Crime Stoppers is now offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that could lead to an arrest and indictment.

According to Dallas police, officers responded to the scene shortly after midnight on July 4, 2025. Johnson was discovered shot inside his vehicle along the 6400 block of Bruton Road, a stretch in southeast Dallas.
