Missouri woman bikes over 700 miles for fentanyl overdose prevention

JOPLIN, Mo. — To raise awareness for overdose prevention, a Missouri woman is bicycling more than 700 miles from Texas to Missouri.

On Monday, Krupp biked more than 110 miles from Tulsa to Joplin.

“It’s the most challenging training that I’ve put my body through, and I’ve been an elite athlete my whole life,” said Krupp.

In 2021, Krupp’s brother Karl was on a Greyhound bus heading from Texas to Missouri to see family. Sadly, he never made it, becoming one of the many victims of fentanyl poisoning in America.

“I don’t think there’s been a mile that I haven’t thought about him,” Krupp said. “Whether it would be like, now I’m out here doing this. I wish he was here with me too. He used to joke that he would be on his Harley and throw me a rope and he would pull me up the hill.”

Now, Krupp is biking the route of the bus her brother was on.

She started in Amarillo, Texas on August 29, and will finish in her hometown of Owensville, Missouri on September 7.
