‘Captain Obvious’? CeeDee Lamb’s ‘Disappearance’ Explained in 5 Words

FRISCO – The Dallas Cowboys offense often goes through CeeDee Lamb, and while head coach Mike McCarthy does a good job of getting No. 88 involved early, CeeDee’s been a bystander in the second halves of games this season.

Just four receptions for 25 yards for Lamb in those second halves paints a picture of the defense easily taking the All-Pro out of the game.

While CeeDee has gotten most of his receptions and yards in the first half, he often goes missing in the second, but McCarthy isn’t too concerned. Instead, he wants the offense to be efficient.

“The efficiency of the offense is the starting point,” McCarthy said. “Obviously, CeeDee is a featured player, but I don’t think it’s outside of Captain Obvious … They’re setting a coverage to him everywhere he goes, especially when he’s the 1 receiver. So we got to just keep working like we always do, but yeah I think the most important part is we had 10 guys touch the football [vs. the Steelers] and that should be the story.”

While yes, 10 players touching the ball is noteworthy, in an ideal world, getting your $34 million APY receiver more than just four receptions in the second halves of games through five weeks might be a higher priority.
