A third airport in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex is one step closer to reality. Last week, the McKinney National Airport received $52.4 million in funding commitments.
This funding will go towards readying the airport for commercial service, including a 45,000-square-foot passenger terminal. Back in January, the city said the terminal would initially feature three gates, with the ability to expand to five.
Taxiway, fuel farm, and landside improvements are also planned with the new funding. The airport is located roughly 30 miles north of Dallas and has only received general aviation traffic…
