Outlying North Texas counties take the title of ‘fastest growth’ this decade, bucking previous trends, data shows

KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — Census data shows that growth in Dallas-Fort Worth’s most far-flung counties is rapidly outpacing the region’s core, according to data aggregated by CoStar.

Kaufman, Rockwall, Ellis and Parker Counties’ growth accelerated this decade compared to last, overtaking other high-growth areas such as Collin and Denton Counties, according to CoStar, which produces data and analysis for the real estate industry.

“With just under 200,000 residents, Kaufman County grew by over 11,100 net new residents from 2023 to 2024 — an impressive rate of nearly 6%. Zoom out to overall growth since the turn of the decade and you’ll see that Kaufman County has increased its population by over 34%, or roughly one-third of its starting base population in 2020,” Bill Kitchens and Cody Gibbs, analysts for CoStar, said…
