DUNCANVILLE, Texas — Moises Elias Saavedra Posadas, a 45-year-old Mexican national illegally residing in the United States, has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for methamphetamine trafficking. The sentence was handed down by United States District Judge David C. Godbey on May 28, 2025.
Saavedra Posadas pled guilty to methamphetamine possession with intent to distribute in February 2025, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas. He was involved in delivering more than 4 grams of 100% pure methamphetamine on two occasions, alongside codefendant Gerardo Barraza Ortiz. A search warrant executed by the Duncanville Police Department at an auto body shop on South Cockrell Hill Road in Dallas, Texas, uncovered several identifying documents belonging to Saavedra Posadas.
During a search of the building on June 2, 2022, officers discovered approximately 48.66 kilograms (107.05 pounds) of crystalized methamphetamine, mostly hidden in 1,022 small packages within buckets and pallets. The search also revealed equipment used to store, cook, and convert liquid methamphetamine into a crystalized form, including a freezer, burners, coolers, storage bins, and barrels.
