Dallas police investigate fatal shooting involving security guard

DALLAS, Texas — A shooting incident early on July 21, 2025, left one man dead and led to multiple arrests, according to the Dallas Police Department. The altercation occurred in the 2000 block of West Northwest Highway.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a disturbance between two groups escalated when 23-year-old Anthony Cristobal, of Dallas, Texas, retrieved a gun and pointed it at 22-year-old Anthony Aguilera, of Dallas, Texas. Luisadolfo Mena, 26, a commissioned security guard contracted by a business at the location, witnessed Cristobal with the gun and issued loud verbal commands to drop it. During this confrontation, Aguilera assaulted a member of Cristobal’s group, prompting Cristobal to open fire. Mena returned fire toward Cristobal, and 21-year-old Heriberto Aguilera, of Dallas, Texas, also fired at Cristobal. Cristobal was struck and later died at the hospital after being transported by Dallas Fire-Rescue personnel.

A Grand Jury referral will be made in the shooting of Cristobal by Mena and Heriberto Aguilera, documented under case number 103538-2025. Anthony Aguilera was arrested for assaulting Cristobal and is charged with Assault under case number 103644-2025.
