North Dallas Got a New Fried Chicken Spot — Here’s What People Think So Far

A new fried chicken restaurant opened at 11717 N. Central Expressway in Dallas on June 17, 2025. The launch included giveaways and entertainment to mark the occasion. The chain behind the project is Pollo Campero, which has based its U.S. operations in Dallas since 2007. With two months of activity now in the books, customer feedback is beginning to shape the picture of how it is performing.

Construction and history

The new building covers 2,598 square feet and includes a drive-thru. The site has gone through several changes over the years. A Boston Market opened here in the early 2000s, and before that the property was home to a distinctive round building from the 1980s. Pollo Campero itself traces its origins back to 1971 in Guatemala and has grown to more than 400 restaurants worldwide. Its decision to expand further in Dallas reflects its established ties to the city.

Location and community impact

Situated on the southwest corner of Central Expressway and Forest Lane, the restaurant adds to a corridor that continues to attract food and retail investment. With a menu centered on Latin-style fried and grilled chicken, paired with sides such as plantains and yuca fries, it offers something different from standard fast-food outlets. Its placement along Central Expressway provides visibility and convenience for commuters, while the drive-thru aims to meet the demand for speed and accessibility.
