Look familiar? Austin’s new $1M logo has Dallas residents doing a double-take

DALLAS — The City of Austin’s new logo is turning heads, especially for Dallas residents.

On Thursday, the City announced its “first-ever brand,” including a brand new logo, and North Texans took note of its similarities to the Dallas “D” logo, which can be seen across the city.

Austin’s new logo features a nearly identical blue and green color scheme and shares a similar modern look. The City of Dallas’ iconic logo has been used for 53 years, with its first appearance dating back to Aug. 10, 1972. In a post celebrating the logo’s 50th anniversary, the City of Dallas noted the “D” and the green tree inside were “meant both to symbolize the quality of living in Dallas and to project a feeling of greenery, growth, and concern for the environment.”…
