Just in time for the start of astronomical fall, a cold front is expected to bring relief from the summer temperatures to parts of Texas. However, the National Weather Service (NWS) warns it could also provoke some stormy conditions in South-Central cities on Wednesday, September 24.
The cooler air moved in from the southern plains and into the Texas-Oklahoma border overnight. Some cities could see up to a 10-degree drop, while others face threats of hail, frequent lightning, and gusty winds.
“After today, temperatures will be cooler with much lower rain chances for the rest of the week,” the NWS Austin/San Antonio office said in a post on X.
