Garland man dies after collision with police officer

GARLAND, Texas — A 32-year-old man died following a collision involving a Garland police officer early Friday morning. The incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. on October 10, 2025, as the officer was traveling eastbound on West State Street.

The officer, who had just left the police station on Forest Lane, encountered a truck stopped in the roadway without lights, blocking the entire eastbound lane near McKinley Street. A male, identified as Juan Pablo Rio Aguilar, was standing in front of the vehicle when the officer attempted to avoid a collision but struck both the truck and Aguilar.

Aguilar, a resident of Garland, was transported to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The officer received medical treatment and has since been released from the hospital, according to a press release from the Garland Police Department…
