The Coconut Creek Police Department is warning residents about a new phone scam in which callers clone local city phone numbers to appear legitimate.

According to police, scammers are spoofing phone numbers that begin with the 973 prefix and calling residents, claiming to represent health insurance providers.

So far, police said they have not received reports of anyone falling victim to the scam, but they are asking the public to remain vigilant and help spread the warning…
