Kodak Black Seeking Case Dismissal After Test Finds No Cocaine

Kodak Black is seeking the dismissal of drug charges in Florida after tests prove the substance, initially believed to be cocaine, was a painkiller. However, when the lab results came back, the Broward County State Attorney instead charged Black with illegal oxycodone possession. Black’s defense lawyer, Brad Cohen, said the rapper had a legal prescription for oxycodone at the time of his arrest. He has been kept in prison since his arrest, and Cohen plans to fight for his release, but Black will have to plead his case before a federal court. Black’s arrest report alleges that he tried to hide the powder after he was found asleep at the wheel outside Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Speaking with Rolling Stone, Cohen claimed that the case is an “abuse of power.” “The cop says crack cocaine and it turned out to be oxycodone. I don’t know how an error like that happens… This officer was either grossly neglectful, incompetent or a liar,” said Cohen.
