Broward County Man Charged With Assaulting American Airlines Gate Agent

Hallendale Beach, FL – A Hallandale Beach man has been charged with assaulting an American Airlines gate agent at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.

According to a criminal complaint, on October 5, 2024, Keith Charles Owens, 35, was arrested by DFW Airport Police for public intoxication.

He now faces a federal charge of knowingly interfering with security personnel, as gate agents are considered to have security duties under federal law.

The incident began when Owens attempted to board a flight at Gate A36, bypassing the boarding line and unsuccessfully scanning his ticket.

The gate agent informed Owens he was at the wrong gate and directed him to Gate A35.

Owens became upset, and after a verbal exchange, he allegedly struck the gate agent in the head with his hand.

The gate agent reported pain but no visible injuries.

Owens was released on a $20,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in federal court in Fort Worth on January 15, 2025.

If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in federal prison.
