A Plantation Police officer was hospitalized Tuesday afternoon after a car crash in Davie, police say.
Plantation Police officers were attempting to arrest a man with outstanding warrants when he fled in a car, “causing multiple traffic crashes,” Det. Chavez Grant, a Plantation Police spokesperson, said in an email to the South Florida Sun Sentinel Tuesday evening. Grant said the man remains at large. He did not provide further information.
The crash, which involved the officer’s patrol car and another car, occurred at the intersection of Davie Road and State Road 84, Sgt. Kelvin Urbaez, a spokesperson for Davie Police, said in an email.
The Plantation police officer was transported to a local hospital by Davie Fire Rescue. The driver of the other car remained at the scene, getting evaluated by Fire Rescue paramedics.
The details surrounding the crash remain sparse. Urbaez did not say what led to the crash or whether it occurred during a pursuit, referring questions to Plantation Police.
