Family of Five Displaced Following Late-Night Fire at Lauderdale Lakes Apartment Complex

Last night, a blaze that tore through an apartment in Lauderdale Lakes displaced a family of five. Reported by Local 10, the incident occurred at approximately 11:45 p.m. at the Somerset Condominiums complex, located at 2801 Somerset Drive. Firefighters from the Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue arrived promptly and faced heavy flames engulfing the unit.

“Firefighters arrived to find heavy flames and a fully involved apartment. Fire crews launched an aggressive attack on the fire and successfully extinguished the flames within 15 to 20 minutes,” as per a news release obtained by Local 10. Despite their prompt response, the damage rendered the apartment uninhabitable, and two neighboring apartments were fortunately saved with no damage.

Following the event, the American Red Cross stepped in to aid the affected family. “The Red Cross is providing emergency financial assistance, health and mental health services, one-on-one support to connect people to available recovery assistance and will continue to provide additional support to the families to meet their disaster-caused needs,” according to a news release from the American Red Cross as detailed by Local 10…
