A 17-year-old has been arrested and charged in relation to a deadly car crash that occurred on Valentine’s Day in Pembroke Pines which resulted in the deaths of an elderly couple. According to WSVN, Albert Oswaldo Yanez Quintana is facing vehicular homicide charges, along with reckless driving and other offenses tied to the February 14 incident. The Pembroke Pines Police Department asserts that Yanez Quintana was driving recklessly and at an excessive speed along Dykes Road when the crash transpired.
The violent collision tragically cut short the lives of Hugo Cardona Valencia and Patricia Fajardo De Cardona. Information from an NBC Miami news report indicates that the crash’s impact was so severe it split the Ford Fusion, the vehicle the elderly couple were in, in half and ejected Fajardo De Cardona. She was pronounced dead at the crash site. Valencia, critically injured and hospitalized, succumbed to his injuries eight days later.
Investigations into the accident by Pembroke Pines Police revealed that Yanez Quintana may have been driving at speeds ranging from 70 to 80 mph in a 45 mph zone at the time of the crash, per the same NBC Miami report.
