Miami Gardens Woman Arrested for Attempted Second-Degree Murder on Her Birthday

Tragedy struck in Miami Gardens following what should have been a festive birthday gathering. Catherine Denise Gilmore, the woman whose 49th birthday celebration ended in a violent altercation with her husband, has been arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder, as reported by NBC Miami. According to the arrest report, Gilmore is alleged to have stabbed her husband in the neck after their guests had left. Her husband, responding in kind, shot her multiple times.

The incident, taking place on June 29, spiraled into violence just after the departure of party guests at the couple’s residence on Northwest 28th Place. In a statement obtained by Local 10, Gilmore’s husband recounted being called a “b—-” and then stabbed by his wife. He fell and then retrieved a gun from under the mattress, firing it towards his assailant. The husband was subsequently found in their driveway by responding officers, bleeding profusely from a stab wound behind his right ear.

Upon entering the house, police discovered Gilmore on the living room floor, bearing multiple gunshot wounds. Initial evidence included a large butcher knife, blood-stained and found at the scene inside the master bedroom, and a blood-covered silver revolver located in a neighbor’s front yard.
