HCA Florida Woodmont Hospital has opened a new $12 million state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization laboratory to serve the residents of northwest Broward. The first patient was treated on October 1.
This new lab is a specialized area where physicians use minimally invasive techniques to diagnose and treat heart conditions. By threading a thin, flexible tube called a catheter through blood vessels to the heart, physicians can identify blockages, restore blood flow, and perform life-saving interventions without the need for open-heart surgery, according to Daniel Santiago, the laboratory manager and a registered nurse.
He said, “This lab is amazing, and it allows us to provide better care for the community.”…
