BOCA RATON, Fla. (CBS12) — A luxury Rolex watch worth $22,500 was mistakenly delivered to the wrong address, and the man who signed for it ended up pawning it for $10,000, according to police.
The Boca Raton Police Department (BRPD) said that Vinicius Filho, 25, allegedly confessed to signing for the FedEx package, opening it, and giving it to a friend who pawned it. The watch, a Rolex GMT Master “Pepsi,” was bought by a different man on November 6 and shipped overnight to what the victim thought was his current business address. Instead, FedEx delivered it to his former location on North Dixie Highway.
FedEx records show the package was signed for by “T. Vinnie” on November 7. When the victim realized the error, he visited the address on Nov. 14 and spoke with Filho, who admitted to signing for the package, opening it, and giving it to a friend, where Filho’s friend later pawned the watch at a local shop for $10,000.
