Thomas Ruzzano Jr. Honored for Rescuing Man Caught in Flash Flood

Thomas Ruzzano, Jr., was honored for helping people escape their flooded cars at Mizner Park.

He was in a movie theater with his girlfriend when the flash flood struck. They left the theater, and he helped drivers who were stuck in their cars. Ruzzano found an older man who was in danger, trapped in his car, and rescued him, taking him to a nearby restaurant and making sure he was OK.

During the November 25 meeting, Ruzzano, Jr., 18, was recognized for his efforts and received a plaque from the commission. His father, Commissioner Tommy Ruzzano, said he is proud of his son and the effort he made to help people who were facing danger…
