Florida Father and Son Accused of Kidnapping Car Salesmen at Gunpoint After Mercedes Deal Dispute, Deputies Say

Hollywood, Florida – Authorities say a disagreement over a used Mercedes-Benz turned into a violent confrontation that ended with two car salesmen allegedly being kidnapped at gunpoint by a father-and-son duo.

Deputies responded to a RaceTrac gas station on Nov. 28, where they encountered Oscar Garcia-Berrios, 50, his son Brandon Garcia, 23, and the two victims they were allegedly holding against their will. What began as a scheduled meeting to finalize paperwork reportedly escalated into an armed standoff that forced the victims to drive the suspects across Broward County.

What Deputies Say Sparked the Violent Encounter

According to the arrest affidavit, Garcia and his father bought a 2021 Mercedes-Benz for $37,000 just two days before the incident. They were set to meet the salesmen on Nov. 28 to complete the transaction.

Around 4 p.m., one of the salesmen allegedly sent Garcia a text about a temporary tag. Investigators say it was an accidental message, but Garcia interpreted it as a sign that the dealership might be trying to deceive them…
