Wastewater spill in Boca Raton prompts health alert and no swim advisory

BOCA RATON, Fla. (CBS12) — A wastewater spill in Boca Raton has led to an health alert and a no swim advisory, according to the Florida Department of Health (FDOH) in Palm Beach County.

The FDOH says a wastewater spill recently occurred on Del Rio Boulevard, which connects to the El Rio Canal in Boca Raton. As a result, a health alert has been issued, along with a no-swim advisory and a halt to irrigation using water from the affected waterways.

Until further information is known regarding possible bacterial contamination, residents and visitors are asked to take precautions when in the waterways in Palm Beach County. FDOH says Boca Raton is coordinating testing and clean up actions with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection…
