Shelters open in Broward, Miami-Dade after Cold Weather Advisory extended

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla — Broward and Miami-Dade counties have extended their cold weather emergency services to the public as low temperatures are expected to persist through the weekend, making shelters available for people experiencing homelessness from Friday through Sunday night.

Broward County, who is working with local community partners, will provide shelter for individuals and families through Sunday, Jan. 18.

Homeless individuals seeking shelter should report nightly to The Salvation Army for placement beginning at 5:30 p.m. Dinner is optional and will be served at 4:30 p.m., county commisioners confirmed in a news release…
