HOBE SOUND, Fla. (CBS12) — Authorities have identified the driver who died in a wrong-way crash in Martin County over the holiday weekend as 43-year-old Walter Turner II of Lake Worth, a man investigators say drove the wrong direction for more than 16 miles before slamming head-on into two vehicles.
Martin County sheriff’s investigators said Turner drove the wrong way for 16.5 miles, from Riviera Beach to Hobe Sound, before the crash near Jonathan Dickinson State Park along U.S. 1. Four people were taken to the hospital and are expected to survive.
