From shoplifting to DUI: 3 arrested overnight in Port St. Lucie patrols

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) — Police had a busy Wednesday night in Port St. Lucie, making three separate arrests across the city in unrelated cases.

The Port St. Lucie Police Department announced on Thursday that one of those arrests happened at Walmart, where officers say Jeffery Marriott tried to walk out with 24 items worth more than $249 without paying. Investigators say Marriott even changed into clothes taken from the store before attempting to leave.

Police said he is a registered sex offender and is now being held at the St. Lucie County Jail under Brittany’s Law, which is a Florida law that allows stricter monitoring of certain registered sex offenders, including GPS tracking, especially if they’re arrested or violate conditions, along with theft charges…
