SUV Crash at Water Treatment Plant Leaves 7,000 Customers Under Boil Water Notice

Thousands of residents in Martin County, Florida, were left with disrupted water service after an SUV crashed into a major transmission pipe at a regional water treatment plant.

The crash happened at around 9 p.m. on Wednesday at the South Martin Regional Utility North Water Treatment Plant in Hobe Sound. According to CBS12 News, the SUV went through a secured perimeter fence before striking the facility’s main water transmission pipe, sending water gushing into the air.

The damaged pipe caused low or no water pressure for approximately 7,000 of the utility’s 10,000 customers, with residents in the affected area experiencing service disruptions throughout the evening.
