St. Lucie firefighters extinguish blaze in attic of new, unoccupied home

An unoccupied home caught fire in St. Lucie County yesterday following significant lightning activity in the area, according to the St. Lucie County Fire District.

SLCFD says its crews responded to a new and unoccupied home with smoke coming from the inside, which was later determined to be coming from the attic.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire while also searching the residence. As part of the operation, SLCFD says they opened the roof of the home, allowing the intense heat and trapped smoke to escape…
