In the latest move of what seems like a dizzying game of musical chairs with island eateries, Johnny D’s Market & Bistro on South A1A has announced it will close in October for year-long renovations – and it is urging both its customers and its employees to move across the road to the new upscale market, fine dining restaurant and tiki bar opening there around the same time.
“After 15 wonderful years in our building, Johnny D’s is getting a facelift,” according to the announcement on social media by the brother-and-sister pair of Nina and Mario Amelio. “In October Johnny D’s will close for renovations, with plans to reopen our refreshed space in October 2027.
“While it will certainly be bittersweet to close our doors, the good news is we aren’t going far,” the Amelios said. “During our renovation, we invite you to visit our family just across the street at the new Turtle Cove Market where you’ll find many of Johnny D’s things you already know and love, including many of your favorite foods, specialty items and wines…
