Martin County, FL – It sounds like something straight out of a quirky crime novel: a man swipes some dish soap and ends up getting caught for a far more serious offense. This odd twist of fate befell 34-year-old Alfonzo Antwoine Ford of Riviera Beach, who apparently had more than just dirty dishes on his agenda.
Ford’s foray into Martin County wasn’t for a leisurely shopping trip. He was on a mission for a ‘steal’ – quite literally. But it wasn’t an extravagant item he was after; it was mere dish soap. Little did he know, this seemingly trivial act of theft would unravel a bigger web of deceit he had spun earlier.
Flashback to a few weeks ago: Ford was suspected of deftly picking the pocket of an elderly man at a local market. Not stopping at the theft, Ford then embarked on a lavish spending spree, racking up over $700 on the victim’s credit cards. Then, like a ghost, he disappeared.
Fast forward to this week, and Ford’s dish soap caper in Martin County led to his arrest. The plot thickened when, during questioning, he spilled the beans. Ford confessed to the detectives that he was indeed the mastermind behind the earlier pick-pocketing incident.
