Sheriff’s office warns residents of scam requesting donations for Vero Beach fire rescue

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) – Several businesses in Indian River County were victims to attempted solicitations for the Vero Beach Fire Department this week. Individuals going by the names Tammy and Justin, calling from 407-743-4300, tried scamming people into entering their credit card information on a website, a news release said. This pair claimed it was for the city’s fire department, but the agency is advising citizens they do not make calls asking for donations.
