Florida school beef up security measures with metal detectors after a student was found with a gun

A Florida school has beefed up security measures following a recent gun incident.

A high school in Florida has introduced extra security measures to ensure the safety and security of its students and staff following an incident involving a gun on campus.

According to media reports, Vero Beach High School has introduced the use of metal detectors for students at entrances to the school. The extra security measure was put into effect just days after a student was seen to be in possession of a gun and was subsequently arrested.

Reacting to the development, Deputy Superintendent Scott Bass said, “Student safety is one of our top priorities. We thought it was necessary to act as quickly as we could.”

According to reports, the students at Vero Beach High School were made to pass through metal detectors before they made their way to the classrooms on Friday.

The school closed the entrances to the school and only allowed the students to pass through the three entrances with the metal detectors. The detectors were put at the bus gate, student parking lot, and parent parking lot.
