Fort Pierce pouncing on Stuart Brightline decision

TREASURE COAST – When Brightline announced its decision to make Stuart its official Treasure Coast stop last March, officials from both the city and Martin County gathering at the Flagler Street location to celebrate while Fort Pierce officials lamented the loss of the high-speed rail station they thought was a slam dunk. Just a few months later, however, a new Stuart Commission majority abruptly turned those tables Sept. 9 by rescinding both the land-lease and amended interlocal agreement with Brightline and the county, respectively.
