Fort Pierce, FL – Pineapple Playhouse is proud to announce its upcoming ‘One Act Showcase,’ running from October 17, 2024, through October 20, 2024. The showcase will feature two captivating one-act plays: Dr. Wonderful by Michael Furlong and Broken Angels by Todd Caster. Tickets are $30 each, and showtimes are as follows: Thursday at 7:00 PM, Friday at 7:00 PM, Saturday at 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM, and Sunday at 2:00 PM.
Play 1: Dr. Wonderful
Directed by Linda Lambrecht, Dr. Wonderful is an original play by Michael Furlong, which won Pineapple Playhouse’s One Act Festival in March. The story follows a retired superhero, now working as a college professor, who is unexpectedly confronted by an ex-sidekick – now a student. As past secrets collide with present realities, the characters are given one final chance at redemption.
Play 2: Broken Angels
Directed by Jack Krantz, Broken Angels tells the harrowing and thought-provoking story of Carrie Buck, set in the early 1900s. Born into a troubled family and later placed in a cruel foster environment, Carrie’s life takes a tragic turn when she becomes a target of the Virginia Sterilization Act of 1924. The play explores her struggle in court against a system designed to silence her, drawing on real events from the infamous Supreme Court case, Buck v. Bell.
