16-year-old drowns at Florida beach: deputies

FORT PIERCE, Fla. (WFLA) — The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a drowning that happened Sunday.

In a social media post, the sheriff’s office said the drowning occurred at Pepper Park Beach in Fort Pierce.

A 16-year-old was pulled from the water and taken to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center. The child did not survive.

“Sheriff Keith Pearson and the men and women of the Sheriff’s Office extend our thoughts and prayers to the family,” the sheriff’s office wrote on social media.
