Based on the comments that I get about some of the restaurants that I write about, it is pretty obvious that Floridians are passionate about submarine sandwiches. Some prefer “Pub” Subs or traditional choices. Others like newcomers like Potbelly or Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop. However, one eatery, a Jimmy John’s in Stuart, was recently temporarily shut down after a state inspection.
About Jimmy John’s In Florida: This isn’t an old chain. It began in the 1980s in the college town of Charleston, Illinois. Like it does today, it placed a high focus on fresh-baked bread and freshly cut meats, although the original menu only had four sandwiches.
Today, there are over 2,700 Jimmy John’s locations, 146 of which are in Florida. The Jimmy John’s in question, at 2117 SE Federal Highway in Stuart, is mixed reviewed, earning 3 out of 5 stars on Google reviews.
A few people complained about portion sizes. For example, Karl wrote:
“Ordered a simple roast beef and swiss. No swiss only provolone. Got my sandwich with two thin slices of roast beef. That, a small bag of chips, and a fountain drink were $16. All I taste is bread and mayonnaise.”
