Teen intentionally hits FHP car in Palm Coast after making suicidal threats, officials say

A suicidal teen from Port St. Lucie intentionally ran into a state trooper’s vehicle that was trying to apprehend him in Palm Coast on New Year’s Eve, according to a release from the Florida Highway Patrol.

Dominic Joseph Guerrisi, 18, was charged with two counts of battery on a law enforcement officer, a felony; two counts of assault on a law enforcement officer, a misdemeanor; and fleeing and eluding law enforcement, a felony.

Around 5 p.m. on Wednesday, an FHP trooper was traveling north on I-95 near mile marker 290 in pursuit of a vehicle with a “be on the lookout” (BOLO) alert due to the driver making suicidal threats, according to the release.

The trooper lost sight of the driver, and called off the pursuit.

Soon after, dispatch spotted Guerrisi and alerted troopers that he was exiting onto U.S. 1 heading south into Flagler County. During this time, another trooper positioned at County Road 204 and U.S. 1 saw Guerrisi pass their marked car, accelerating rapidly as if he was attempting to flee and elude, the release stated.
