A student was detained at Fort Pierce Westwood Academy on Thursday after being discovered with a handgun on campus, according to authorities. The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office responded rapidly to the situation and took the student into custody to prevent potential harm. In a statement obtained by WPTV News Channel 5 West Palm, the Sheriff’s Office said that deputies “responded promptly,” underscoring a commitment to the security and wellbeing of the school’s students and staff. Sheriff Richard R.
