Boat explosion injures 3, including baby, on Intracoastal Waterway

MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — A boat explosion on the Intracoastal Waterway in Martin County on Thursday morning resulted in injuries to three people, including a baby, according to a spokeswoman for the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.

According to MCSO spokesperson Christine Weiss, the incident occurred on a catamaran when a gas oven was turned on, leading to the explosion. Martin County Fire Rescue provided more details later in the day, stating that the explosion occurred when a person on board attempted to ignite a propane coffee maker. The blast caused significant damage to the vessel.
