Fort Pierce Biofuel Executive Sentenced to 37 Months for Multi-Million Dollar Fraud Scheme

Royce Gillham, the former General Manager of a Fort Pierce-based biofuel company, has been sentenced to 37 months in prison. He was involved in a scheme that generated over $7 million in fraudulent EPA renewable fuel credits and sought an additional $6 million in fraudulent tax credits related to biodiesel production, as per the Office of Public Affairs release.

Gillham worked for a company that falsely claimed to produce biodiesel from various feedstocks. In an effort to inflate the company’s biodiesel production, Gillham and his employer overstated the amount of fuel produced when reporting to both the IRS and the EPA. When auditors requested further details, Gillham and his associates provided false information about the company’s production and customer base.

Gillham pleaded guilty to conspiring to commit wire fraud and filing false claims. Along with his prison sentence, he will serve a three-year term of supervised release…
