GALLERY: Flames engulf 10,000 sq ft trash pile in Palm City

PALM CITY, Fla. (CBS12) — Flames engulfed a towering pile of trash at a Solid Waste and Recycling transfer facility in Palm City, prompting a response from firefighters who battled the blaze for hours.

The Martin County Fire Rescue (MCFR) said that crews responded to the Martin County Solid Waste and Recycling transfer facility located on Southwest Busch Street at 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

When crews arrived, they reported finding a pile of trash burning inside a 10,000-square-foot containment building.
