PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) — A late-night collision between a semi-truck and a Tesla in Port St. Lucie resulted in one driver’s death, another driver hospitalized, and spilled over 100 gallons of fuel on the Turnpike.
The St. Lucie County Fire District (SLCFD) said that at 11:25 p.m. on Tuesday night, they responded to the crash at mile marker 141.
Officials said that a semi-truck pulling a tandem trailer collided with a concrete rail and struck a Tesla, leading to over 100 gallons of fuel spilling from the semi.
As a result of the crash, SLCFD said that the driver of the semi was pronounced dead at the scene and the other driver involved in the crash was transported to the hospital as a trauma alert.
