Large, aggressive alligator found near porch of Vero Beach home

VERO BEACH — A large and aggressive alligator made its way up to a Vero Beach home early Friday afternoon, spurring animal control officers to come and remove the animal.

The nearly-nine-foot-long beast had nearly reached the rear porch of a home in the 3600 block of 16th Street when police were alerted around 2:45 p.m., according to a statement from the Vero Beach Police Department.

When the police department’s animal control officer arrived, the 210 lb. gator was deemed to be aggressive, and the choice was made to dispatch it, authorities explained.
