HOBE SOUND, Fla. (CBS12) — Back in August, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection proposed major changes to nine state parks, building golf courses, hotels, and pickleball courts. That was met with lots of pushback from state leaders and community members, and the plans were withdrawn.
Saturday morning, a protest was held at Jonathan Dickinson State Park in Hobe Sound, where three golf courses were initially planned. Community members are now calling for stronger state laws to prevent similar developments in the future.
