‘My legs don’t work, bro’: Driver’s escape attempt ends in fiery crash in Vero Beach

VERO BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A driver’s attempt to flee Vero Beach police officers ended in a fiery crash.

According to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office (IRCSO), officers tried to initiate a traffic stop on a vehicle near 26th Street. Police say the vehicle fled, heading westbound, causing officers to lose sight of the vehicle.

That’s when IRCSO deputies got involved and began tracking down the vehicle. While on the hunt, deputies came across the vehicle completely engulfed in flames in a small field near the west side of 26th Street and 82nd Avenue. IRCSO deputies and Vero Beach officers arrived on the scene to assist…
